Abstract
The Rufous-fronted Parakeet, a rare endemic of the Central Cordillera of the Colombian Andes, has been recently observed and collected at 3280–4000 m in the vicinity of Laguna de Otún and on Nevado del Ruiz. Based on density estimates of 1 individual/km², the total population probably numbers 1–2000 <sic; almost certainly this should be “1000–2000”>. B. orbygnesius of the southern Andes and B. ferrugineifrons form a superspecies.
