Abstract

Allan R. Phillips’ (ARP) career as a professional ornithologist spanned almost 65 years, from 1931 through 1996. During this time he contributed to ornithology in many ways, including publication of 171 articles on birds, mainly of North America. These and other of his contributions are discussed, along with an attempt to understand the man and how he functioned as a person and an ornithologist.
