A total of 129 bird species were detected, using point counts, general opportunistic observations, and voice identification. This compares with 45 species for the previous survey (BCES 1992), 11 of which were not sighted by this survey. This creates a total of 140 species observed to date, a number which will surely increase with continued research. Many species utilizing the SDA’s habitats seasonally could not be viewed as they will not arrive until Sept–Nov.
