The Wood Stork colonies in the northeastern Corozal District, Belize.

Abstract

The status of 8 bird colonies in the Northeastern Corozal District is reviewed. Special emphasis is being put on the Wood Stork (Mycteria americana), a species that is believed to have returned to breed in the area after an absence of more than a decade. All colonies are being threatened as a result of excessive hunting.
